yesterday (18 june 2019), i went on a day-out with my friends all over KL! we figured since nad is leaving soon for nz that we should get in as much time as we can with her.
i met up with them at mytown since i had a medical checkup for amcorp earlier that morning. i had a nice time travelling by public transport all alone and i'm pretty sure i saw nabila huda on the mrt. i arrived a little earlier because malaysian timing but also we're kinda terrible at coordinating times. once i arrived at mytown, i took a detour to ikea to get myself a hotdog; i love ikea hotdogs solely because of ikea's mustard. after eating at one of those tables without chairs at ikea's cafe i made my way to sushi jiro where they were having lunch. i barely ate anything there because i was still full from aunty gemok's kueh teow goreng that i had for breakfast. sidenote: i'm sad that i don't enjoy it as much as i used to. after finishing up on lunch, qiya got daboba and farrah got her starbucks and we stopped to smell the candled roses at bath & body works while nad went to pray.
the next stop was planetarium negara which, i have to say, was kinda boring aside from the rm12 space pod ride. a lot of the interactive displays were broken but i guess when you're with friends, you can make anything into a fun time. after that we got a grab to the deer park which made for nice pics but was also a bit of a letdown. there were probably like, 5 deers lol. deers aren't very interesting animals but they are pretty with their antlers and stuff. we just walked around before turning back. we took a taxi to the national monument after that which was personally the highlight of the day!!!! i've lived in malaysia for nearly 20 years and had never seen it with my own eyes until then. it was kinda magnificent?? like, i felt like the embodiment of white america in the sense that they're very patriotic but in a more justified kind of way since we were actually colonised lmao. i'd only seen the monument in textbooks before which was probably why i was so surprised at just how large it actually is. it's amazing that we could just go right up to it because it seems like the kind of thing that should be roped off. i hope it never gets to that point.
after the monument, we walked(!!!) all the way to the perdana botanical park, all the way to the sunken gardens! we took a lot of pictures there before making our way to the playground across from it where we played like non-20-year-olds. i haven't been on a swing or went down a slide in a while so it was exhilarating hahaha i forgot how nice it felt to play without a care in the world. i miss being a kid :(
after nearly a whole day out under the hot sun, we finally to a grab back to nu sentral and had aroii thai for dinner!! it was delicious!! and cheap! which is very important!!! and then we just mucked around at drug stores and yubiso before taking the mrt back home!
all in all, it was a fun day and i was glad to be able to get some exercise for once. i'm gonna miss nad when she leaves :( but i'll be glad that we got to spend some time with her before she goes.
